Brittany Beaches for the Whole Family

Brittany camping is a popular choice for holidaymakers wanting a family holiday in the outdoors. With excellent summer weather, superb Brittany campsites and beautiful beaches lining the coast, you can create your own unique family holiday.

One of the best family oriented beaches in Brittany is at Benodet. Perfect to visit when on a family camping holiday in Brittany, you can spend hours enjoying beachside activities when not relaxing at your Brittany campsite. Hire out pedaloes and beach kayaks, and enjoy hours of family fun as you paddle through the water in the bright sunshine. The beaches of Plage du Letty and Plage Saint Gilles are also situated in Benodet, and you can while away the days on both, where your children can entertain themselves while you relax in the summer sun.

Carnac is another resort with some great family beaches for a fun day out when staying at a Brittany campsite. There is La Grande Plage, the main beach, as well as four smaller beaches to pick from. All the beaches are sheltered, St Colomban and La Grande Plage are supervised by lifeguards, so you can relax in the knowledge your children are safe in the water. Nearby are the Standing Stones, which can be visited after a day on the beach before returning to your Brittany campsite.

A Spot of Fishing on a Brittany Camping Holiday

The fishing port of Audierne makes for an interesting day out when camping in Brittany. This area has beautiful stretches of coast with fine, white sand, and sparkling water to swim in. You can also enjoy the excellent, freshly caught, local seafood in a nearby restaurant, a delicious way to spend a few hours while on a camping holiday in Brittany. Why not take a trip out to the Ile de Sein, and mingle with the local fisherman, who can relate fascinating stories of their fishing experiences?

Sunny Summer Promenades
If you want a slightly more commercial beach, with a promenade to walk along and shops close by to buy a cold drink, there are a number of beaches that will perfectly compliment your Brittany camping holiday. In the south east corner, the beach of La Baule makes for a great day of sun tanning, swimming and strolling along the promenade. The beach itself stretches for 4 miles, and small offshore islands make the scene fit for a postcard.

Opposite St Malo, the commercial yet beautiful beaches of Dinard await you when camping in Brittany. The main beach, Plage de l’Ecluse has a casino beside it, which makes for an entertaining day out on a Brittany camping holiday. The Promenade du Claire de Lune is great for long beachside wanders, stretching all the way from the headland down to Plage du Prieure.

Brittany’s Wilder Side

If you want to experience the more natural beaches when staying in a Brittany campsite, there are several beaches that will suit your taste. On the Pink Granite Coast, you will find a number of beaches backed by fascinating rock and sand formations. While these beaches can be busy in summer, their natural beauty is astounding, and they are definitely worth a visit when on a Brittany camping holiday.

If you want a wilder beach, a trip to the Cote Sauvage when staying at a Brittany campsite is well worth the drive. The coastal walks at St Cast will also give you the opportunity to admire excellent views of Emerald Coast as you walk along jagged cliffs.
