Baton Rouge and the Best Hotels in the Region

Baton Rouge attracts many visitors every year. It is a good mix of Creole and Cajun culture along with its beautiful parks and architectural structures, there are several things to see and do here.

Baton Rouge is the largest city and the capital city of Louisiana. It is situated in the East Baton Rouge Parish that contains about 430,813 residents. Aside from this, the area also contains about 190,037 residents. It is a main port center, petrochemical and an industrial center of the American South. It has a humid subtropical climate with humid and hot summers, mild winters and rainfalls all year.

Baton Rouge’s largest industry is in petrochemicals and ExxonMobil that has the 2nd biggest refinery in the area. It is also among the top industries in the world. NanYan Plastics has a large headquarter in the north that makes CPVC and PVC pipes. The country is the center ground of South Louisiana culture with a mix of South Mississippi, Cajun and the Creole Catholics as well as the Baptists of Florida Parishes.

They house numerous college institutions from Southern University, Louisiana State University and the Baton Rouge Community College, making up about 20 percent of the city’s inhabitants.

The state has an increasing visual arts scene centered downtown. The expanding collection of facilities is anchored by the Shaw Center of the Arts. This facility houses the Manship Theater, LSU Museum of Art, the Brunner Gallery, traveling exhibits, several eateries and a contemporary art gallery.

Another facility is the LASM or the Louisiana Art and Science that contains traveling art exhibits, an ancient Egyptian section space display and Irene W. Pennington Planetarium. Numerous plantation houses in the area including Nottoway Plantation, Myrtles Plantation, and the Magnolia Mound Plantation House showcases architecture throughout the antebellum era. Several structures such as the Pennington Biomedical Research center, Louisiana State archives, Louisiana Arts and Sciences Center, Bluebonnet Swamp Interpretive Center, the Louisiana Naval Museum, LSU Student Union, Louisiana State Library and the Baton Rouge River Center were designed by John Desmond, a Baton Rouge architect.
