Dwarka is a sacred city which continues to search for its history and existence about 200 years ago. However the 7th city of Dwarka is not averted by history to face modernization.

Dwarka is a planned city and is associated to Lord Krishna. According to history it consisted of 6 organized sectors dealing with all the needs of the city. There were 700,000 palaces made of gold and silver stones and that sea harbor was at its finest at that time. But after Krishna left the earth, Dwarka submerged into the sea. Several archaeological findings reveal that there were some artifacts found under the sea that proves that a city drowned years ago. As of date, there are no final explanations to as why the city submerged. It’s still the same belief that it was due to evolution.

The state government is, now keeping the artifacts that have been found in the exploration. Marine Archaeology Unit submitted a proposal for an underground museum. This is to create a submarine tube made of glass windows that will be placed under the sea.

The underwater excavations started early in the 1930s however it was only in the 1990s that factual information came out. The first artifacts were mostly made of stones and recently a wooden block. The wooden block will have to undergo carbon dating technique to identify the exact timeline of the drowned city.

The Dwarka City built after the sea submersion is considered as the 7th City. Excavations proved that the sea swallowed five settlements. Because of the faith that continues to exist among Dwarka people, several landmarks are preserved as prayer and pilgrimage places. Landmarks include numerous temples, shrines, and religious institutions. Here are some of the popular landmarks.

Gomati Gath Temple consists of small temples surrounding the Ghat. It is specifically situated at the meeting point of Gomati and ocean. The temple reflects the image of the Gomati River. Within the area are Samudra Narayana, Panchanada Tirtha and Chakra Narayana temples.

Gopi Tallava is a pond located 20kms north of Dwarka. It features sacred clay known as Gopi Candana. Krishna devotees used this to create tilak marks on their bodies. Within the area are several shrines worth visiting.

Vasai houses an ancient Sun Temple. Aside from its ancient beauty, the place is known to offer affordable housing. It is also known as Bassein or Shurparak.

Pindhana is located 72 kms from Dwarka. It is a port town. This place features Pindara Temple and peacock feeding at Kennedy Village. It also showcases a sanctuary called Gaga Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary.

Ved Bhuvan is an institution teaching Vedic scripture and philosophies. Libraries store ancient books on Sanskrit and Vedan. It features an octagonal shaped building, central courtyard, the Siddhivinayak temple and a guesthouse.

Shank Narayan was built 200 years ago that was dedicated to Masyavatar. It is located in Nasogi Village near Manali. It features a wooden holy pole and practices pratistha ceremonies. It is also known as Shonku.

Gulf of Kutch Marine National Park is located in Jamnagar ditrict near Okha. It is the first national marine park of India after its declaration in 1982. It has 30 40 islands along the coast surrounded by reefs. The most popular islands are Pirotan and Karubhar. Tourists will enjoy tidal range, mango trees and agae beds. Not to far from the area are the Willington crescent, Lakhota Fort and temples of Bala Hamunan and Jain.

In conclusion, despite all the issues surrounding the history of Dwarka City, it now remains a city making its way to modernization. As a matter of fact realty business is a blooming industry in the city. The planned townships pave the way for business developers to invest in the place.
