If you are thinking of coming down to the Gold Coast, you might want to hire a scooter for a few days and check out all that the Gold Coast has to offer.
We’ve checked out all of the Scooter and Moped Hire companies down here and decided to let you know what we’ve found.

Number 1
Gold Coast Scooter Hire from Thrill Rider Pty Ltd might not sound like your typical scooter hire place, but don’t let the name fool you. This is by far one of the best scooter/moped/motorbike hire companies on the Gold Coast is Thrill Rider. Their scooters are not plastered with advertisements. Their scooters and motorbikes are brand new. And all the gear is excellent. But that is not even the best part...
Thrill Rider boys will actually deliver the scooter to your hotel room. They don’t charge anything extra for any extra gear, or for any kilometers. The security deposit is $500 per scooter which is all that you are liable for if you were to crash it.
The best part is, you can book everything over the internet, and the scooter is delivered to you when you arrive on the Gold Coast. Thrill Rider specializes in 3 14 day hire. They charge about $250/week per scooter on average.
Overall: Amazing service, great price and great scooters.
Number 2
Moped City is our second most preferred scooter hire place on the Gold Coast. Their fleet consists of about 80 90 scooters and are by far the biggest players on the gold coast. Their headquarters are about 20 minutes walk from the Surfers Paradise Cavil avenue.
Moped City has been around for ages and still does descent business. The scooters are never more than 5 years old but don’t expect any frills with these guys. The scooter comes with one helmet. For any extra helmets you will have to pay.
Moped city offers hourly hire as well as daily hire rates. When hiring, you will need a credit card (which they take a blank imprint for) and you will be liable for any damage done to the scooter.
One thing we found with moped city is that it can cost you dearly if you damage any of their bikes. In some cases, you will be paying as much for small damages as you would if you were to buy a new scooter.
Number 3
Our third preferred scooter hire place on the Gold Coast is Scoot n Toot. Scoot and Toot is located in Miami, some 15 minute drive from Surfers paradise.
Scoot and Toot claim to be the biggest hirer of scooters on the gold coast, but that is somewhat debatable. They have a descent size fleet of 50cc 125cc scooters. Their prices are reasonable and the service is not too bad either.
If you are staying in Miami, or an area within walking distance from Miami, you will have to jump on the bus for at least 15 20 minutes to hire from these guys.
Their scooters are fairly new and quite comfortable to ride. The variety is great. But they are only open during standard business hours and will charge you if you accidentally show up late.
I hope this review has been helpful as I have hired scooters and motorbikes all over the globe and find it somewhat irritating when I get charged for damages I did not do to the scooter or I accidentally get given a dud. Remember, it is your money, so make sure you get the best for it.
