You’re Florida Vacation Rental Checklist

No matter where you stay in Florida, whether in Miami for spring break, or some other location, it is a good idea to stay in a vacation rental instead of a hotel. A vacation rental is far cheaper in the long run, and will save you many headaches associated with conventional lodgings. There are however some things you should look for in a rental, a checklist that you should be on the look out for.

The first thing you should check on is location. For example, if you are going to Florida for spring break, then you want to rent your vacation pad as close to the beaches in Miami or wherever else you are planning to stay. If you are planning to spend most of the time out, then some amenities you may not need to worry about at the rental are a swimming pool, or a large yard.

Privacy is a big issue no matter where you stay when you are taking a holiday, so one of the other important things you should consider is bedrooms, and even bathrooms. If you are traveling with friends and family, then you will want to have at least two bedrooms, and that many bathrooms. In the morning there will be no fighting over who gets to use the restroom first, and while you may be gone most of the day, later on in the evening you want to have a private area to relax and unwind. This is another big problem that a rental can solve over a hotel.

Since you will be staying in a rented home or apartment, you will need a kitchen to cook at least some of your meals. When you check with the rental agency, make sure that the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, and glasses and plates. You want to spend as little time as possible cleaning up after a meal, so a dishwasher is a must. If you are planning to stay more than a few days, a washer and dryer will save you money. If you are planning to drive there, or rent a car while on vacation, having a parking place, preferably off the street is a must.

Usually, there are other things that a rental should have to help you out. One of them is a television, DVD player, and at least a WIFI connection for your laptop. Sure you will be spending most of your time out, but when you are done for the day, you want to keep the kids entertained, check your emails, and for those die hard people, ability to check your work online.

Another really good idea is to plan ahead. Have a packing checklist, so you will remember things like brushes, toothpaste, any swim suits, and any extra clothing. If you have to buy these things away from home, it could cost you more money than you want to spend. Some items that can be much more expensive are things like insect repellent, suntan lotion, and extra sunglasses, just to name a few.
