Traveling is a passion for many and some places are truly unforgettable. But in reality, all memories fade with time and you will never want to part with such rich experiences. Therefore you need to preserve your memories in a travel journal that will prevent them from slipping from your mind.

Traveling is seen as a schizophrenic event by all. At first you chalk all the tiny details of your exciting trip and are ready to implement them systematically. But in reality you lose track of them as you generally tend to go perpendicular to your original travel plans. This is where your travel journal comes handy and the massive changes in your plan make the whole journey even more interesting and unforgettable. Since it is impossible to remember all the events in detail, it is always better to maintain a travel book.

The best way to escape from the pressures of society and the strain of daily life is to go on holidays. Traveling makes you fresh and enriches you with new cultures of various places around the globe. So do not allow these unforgettable memories to fade by just carrying your travel book everywhere.

Think about your latest trip and you will realize that you remember almost all details. But when you reminisce upon the first trip that you took, you will soon come to the conclusion that you have forgotten almost everything. You will wish you had carried a travel journal along.

There are instances of great personalities of maintaining a journal which was found after his/her demise and thus the journal became a book of great importance which gave the world the real, firsthand experience. Such is the case with Anne Frank whose journal gave us a huge insight about a person’s life in hiding for two years during the time of the Nazis. Since your travel stories are lighter than these, maintaining a journal will definitely help you in recalling your fond memories later.

There are various characteristics for a great travel journal. Firstly, it should be compact and you need not jot down unnecessary incidents. Secondly, there should a case to protect your precious memories from rain, spills, etc. Thirdly, there should be enough blank areas to allow you space for writing notes. Fourthly, it should have certain cue spaces for reminders or notes about specific things. These cues should include the following information.

•The person with whom you traveled

•The place where you had stayed and if you had enjoyed it

•The people whom you met and their contact information

•The places where you went out to eat

•The things to see there and if you would like to visit that place again

After you trip, you should possess the following information.

•Contacts of your fellow travelers and some people you met
•Complete information necessary for you to travel to that place again
•Special memories that are worth reflecting upon after years
•Something worth presenting to your children and grand children later in life

To make the best use of your travel journal, you should spend some time writing every day. Every trip brings you special memories and you would not want them to be washed away by time. Therefore, maintain a travel journal from today!
