For centuries man has looked to the stars and there is no place where more stars have fallen to earth than sunny California. Tourists come from all over the country hoping to catch a glimpse these glittering jewels of the desert. If you re hoping to see a few stars then you re in good company. Use this list of six places to see the stars and you re sure to find a few constellations of your own.

Catch falling stars at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Perched atop the slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles Griffith Park, the Observatory commands a view of downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. Watch the planetarium show during the day or visit at night for a dual view of the stars above and the lights below.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street is embedded with more than 2,000 stars featuring the names of not only actual celebrities but fictional characters as well. The first eight stars were dedicated in September 1958 and placed in the sidewalk on the northwest corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. They say everyone in Hollywood is hoping to be discovered, the Walk of Fame is your chance to discover a few stars of your own.

Ever dream of living like a star? See movie stars homes during a two hour narrated Movie Stars Homes tour. A must do for star watchers, Starline Tours of Hollywood takes you to Beverly Hills, Bel Air, and Hollywood Hills. You will see mansions of today s superstars, homes of Hollywood legends, and other sites such as Sunset Strip and Rodeo Drive all from air conditioned luxury minibuses. Tours start at Grauman s Chinese Theatre, the only place where you can see the famous hand and footprints of the Stars.

Speaking of Rodeo Drive, take an afternoon to shop with the stars in one of the most famous shopping districts in the world. The price tag may be steep, but your chance of bumping in to Hollywood royalty is high. Take a stroll down the Drive and when you re ready for a bite to eat, go one street west tow Camden Drive for lunch at Mr. Chow.

From the day the restaurant opened in Beverly Hills it has been a celebrity haunt. The first Mr. Chow opened in London where the Beatles, Mick Jagger, Marlene Dietrich, and Jackie Onassis were regular customers. The stars are equally bright in Los Angeles, so if you plan to dine with the rich and famous call well in advance to secure a table.

If you really want to see the stars in their natural glory then take a trip to Palm Springs. In Hollywood s hey day this was the hot spot for a weekend getaway and many still flock down south for a quick escape. Just a two hour drive from Los Angeles, the desert oasis offers some of the most beautiful open skies and star gazing in the Western Hemisphere. By day, take a trip on the world s largest rotating aerial tramcars at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. By night, look up and make a wish on a shooting star.
